Digital Imaging Photobook

I have enjoyed learning new skills in Digital Imaging this semester. We had the chance to put a photo book together for the end of the semester. It has a majority of the photos taken through the semester for the class.

I added most of the photos to other blog posts and then added them to the photo book. Putting the photo book together was enjoyable. I put it together in Indesign and created the entire setup.

The link to the Photobook PDF is below the image.

Fine Art Image

ORiginalPrint2

The two images above are the before and after of my Fine Art print.  The first image is the original and the second is the edited. I added warm lighting and sharpened the image. I made the white clearer. In the corner the lighting was decreased and part of the image was changed.

I went to Mckenna Pro and uploaded the print and chose a larger image and now await for the print to come.

Macro Photography

This assignment has been a favorite of mine. I have found it very enjoyable to be able to get the little details of smaller items. I think macro is a favorite form of photography for me. I had so much fun with it that I had a difficult time choosing a few of my images and ended up choosing more than needed.

A few of these photos were taken in class and a few were taken outside of class.

The first photo below was taken outside of class. The M&Ms were from our wedding and I wanted to get the detail of our names on them.

The next image I took in class. I wanted to get more of a Alice in Wonderland look.

Ashley-Hatch-Macro_2

This next image was a little difficult to get. I tried to get the kiwi and the strawberry in the background to show-up in the water-droplet. It took a lot of tries before I managed to get this photo.

Ashley-Hatch-Macro_14

I also took this image in class. I love roses up close and wanted to get the water droplets in the image.

Ashley-Hatch-Macro_16

ALthough the next image is a little more blurry I came to love it. Unlike the other photos this photo was taken with a 10mm filter lens. The others were a 4mm. The 10mm lens gave each image a glow and was very much zoomed into the item.

I enjoyed taking pictures of the feather below. It was so colorful and fun. The details of it ended up being absolutely amazing.

When I went home I wanted a close-up of my typewriter. I love typewriters and some of the images taken that I wanted to try getting a few myself.

AShleyhatch-Macro1

The last image happens to be a favorite. I did not mean to get a black background of the flower, but the colors contrat quite a bit and it makes the white show up greatly. I honestly loved how this one turned out.

Bannack Ghost Town- Fine Art

Bannack had a lot of great details. I loved all of them. A few of the details I loved and managed to take pictures of are below.

The first image is a cute merry go round. Even though it was a bit older it still managed to hold up very well. I managed to get another picture of someone riding it, but I did not post the picture.

AShley-Hatch-Nonportrait

I also really loved look at some of the carts and wagons. This wagon is an old horse pulled wagon. I loved the coloration of it.

AShley-Hatch-Nonportrait7.jpg

I really loved the detail on the wood of this broken down building. I thought it looked stunning.

AShley-Hatch-nonportrait2

This image I ended up using three different images that I layered on top of each other. The hat is from the lightest image. The sky is from the darkest image and the wooden beam is from the regualr image.

AShley-Hatch-cowboy

I also really loved the details on some of the fences. This is one of my favorites.

AShley-Hatch-Nonportratit3

Other details I really enjoyed had to do with some of the things the models would use. I loved some of the jewelry and props they used.

Bannack Ghost Town- Portraits

I enjoyed taking portraits during my time in the Bannack Ghost town. I was able to get to know each of the models individually. They all were amazing people to meet.

Each image required different lighting to attain the image below.

The first couple of images are of Jake. I used a reflector to get the outside images.

For this next image of Gerald we used natural lighting. The image below the one of Gerald is also natural lighting.

In the next two images of Stan and Jacey we used reflectors.

In order to get the image of Martin to looks this way we used strobe lights and reflectors to help get the lighting.

In order for us to get the images of Rick and Cathy we used strobe lights.

The next two images are a comparison of what the image would look like without and with a speedlight and reflector. The first image is without the reflector and the second one is with a reflector.

To get the lighting on David Duster we used a continuous reflector.

In order to get the lighting on David Walker we used an LED Dimmable and a reflector.

I loved taking images of all of the people there. I had so many favorite photos, but I chose just a few of them to show. As an addition I decided to add a photo of Stan’s sweet little dog that helped at the photo shoot.

Bannack Ghost Town- Creativity

This photo project consisted of creating different types of images including levitation, ghost, abstract, commercial and conceptual.

Levitation-

03Ashley-Hatch-levitation

To create the levitation photo above it consisted of two photos. One photo I had the sweet model standing on the chair and the other had just the room in the image. I used the two images down below to create the levitation photo. They are dark so I had to do some work using photoshop, but I am pleased with how it turned out.

Ghost-

Creating the Ghost image was fun. We had our models move swiftly while using a slower shutter speed. In this image she is spinning in circles.

AShley-Hatch-Ghost

In the next image the model moved towards me faster than the shutter speed.

AShley-Hatch-ghost2

Abstract-

Abstract can mean different things. In the photo below I chose to use abstract by adding texture to the table and background used for the books.

AShley-Hatch-texture.jpg

The next abstract photo is one I found interesting. I was walking past the school building when I noticed that you can see through the vent on the side. I ended up taking a cool picture of the inside of the school from the vents.

Ashley-Hatch-ABstract.jpg

Commercial-

Creating a commercial photo meant that we needed to take an item and create pictures that could help sell the item. I chose an old camera I received from my grandparents house. AShley-Hatch-Commercial-2AShley-Hatch-Commercial

Conceptual-

Conceptual photography requires  a story within the photo. Originally the photos below were not meant to be part of the conceptual photography, but I loved the look of them. They represent the time of waiting. She is looking out the window and watching for her specific someone.

03Ashley-Hatch-conceptual

In the next image there can be a small paper in the bottle that says “Emotions” it represents those of us that bottle up our emotions instead of letting them out.

Bannack Ghost Town- Stepping Time

Recently, as a class, we went on a trip to the Bannack Ghost Town in Montana. We had the opportunity to take pictures of the area and people in it.

One of our photo assignments was to choose items with the same theme and create a series. While looking around the town I found a lot of unique staircases that I enjoyed looking at and chose for my series.

Each set of stairs had a different aspect to them. Some were smaller while others were long. A few of the staircases has something peeling off or growing on them.

I really enjoyed looking at this last one. When I looked at it at first I noticed it looked almost like a slide from the angle it is at rather than an actual staircase.

Landscape Perspective

This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit my grandparents’ grave for my mother’s birthday. As I was there I decided to use the gravestone of my grandparents as a part of this weeks project of landscape perspective

Ashley-Hatch-Collage

I wanted to get detail of the top of the gravestone. The stone had so much to it I wanted to get as much detail as possible.

AShley-Hatch1jpg

AShley-Hatch2

On the back of the grave are the names of all the children my grandparents had. I wanted to make sure I incorporated this.Ashley-Hatch3

I loved seeing my husband stand in front of my grandparents’ grave and showing respect to them.

Ashley-Hatch4

My nieces and nephews also wanted to show the love they had for my grandparents. Below them is a pinwheel they made for them.AShley-Hatch5

I wanted to incorporate the cemetery into the background.

Ashley-Hatch6

I wanted to be able to focus on the gifts that were placed at the grave while being able to still have some detail of the grave included in the image.Ashley-Hatch7

In the background of the cemetery are the Wyoming mountains. I felt it to be important to show these in the image.AShley-Hatch8

This last image has a shell texture added to it to add variety to the details and pictures.Ashley-Hatch9(texture)

During one of the photos I was taking my nephew decided to run through and try to mess with the picture. As an addition, I decided to have his blurriness be incorporated to scene by making him look like a little ghost running through the cemetery.

AShley-Hatch-Ghostling

Although normally cemeteries and ghosts normally are put in dark images I wanted to keep the images brighter. The scene was brighter and vibrant and I didn’t want to mess it up. I also felt it was a strong reminder that cemeteries are not gruesome, but they are a place to remember our loved ones that are no longer with us.
